As a writer, I used to just write for the audience and what the teacher wanted. I just gave what the people want, but I never learned to write for myself. Based on the readings from William Zinsser on how to write better, I learned that writing for myself and what I care about will make my writing better. Giving it originality, character and my own style or voice will make it interesting. I used to write too much and go on rants, but simplicity is important and write just enough for the readers to understand and appreciate my work. I hated writing because I thought I can never be a good writer, but writing itself is just a very challenging thing. The more I started to dig deep and learn about the different components on how to write better, the more I started to enjoy writing and writing for myself.
